Kale, 5 August 2026

One photograph from the 2026 season.

Brassica seedlings on 5 August, every wiry stem flushed deep purple-maroon from the compost right up to the leaf join under dull gray-green cotyledons, and one near the middle heaved out of its cell so a pale white root lies bare on the surface.
