The garden, 29 September 2026

One photograph from the 2026 season.

On 29 September a thin pale stem forks a third of the way up into four or five upswept branches, prickly, nearly leafless but for tattered gray-green clusters at the tips; a bluebird faces out from one, papery rose flower heads banked behind in soft light.
