Strawberries, 7 June 2026

One photograph from the 2026 season.

A dormant bare-root crown on 7 June carrying no green tissue at all, the cut and broken stubs of old leaf stalks bristling from a congested woody knot and below it a mat of fine wiry roots combed out dry to one side in long tan strands.
