Week of 6 JulyGarlic chives on 9 July, the leaves flat straps rather than tubes, each keeled shallowly down the middle and rising from a small pale base in a dry papery sheath — twenty of them arching out over a terracotta rim, several tips kinked over straw-yellow.Week of 3 AugustGarlic chives on 5 August, flat keeled straps rather than round tubes, all of them rising from one crown flattened into a single plane and sprawling out of the frame in every direction with the outermost arching down onto the grass, in low evening sun.
