Week of 24 AugustA squat blocky pepper on 29 August, ripened to a clear even orange with the shriveled remains of its own flower still stuck at the shoulder, hanging above a pale stone path with silvered and blotched leaves around it.Week of 31 AugustA pepper ripened squat and near-spherical on 3 September, hanging from a pedicel bent under its weight — red-orange over the top and deepening to pure red in the shade beneath, so soaked that the beads have run into fat drops falling off its lower curve.
